Recruitment for EMI Professional Development Program
The TC-NTNU EMI Professional Development Program is the first of its kind, complementing other institutional development initiatives like short-term study abroad trips. TC-NTNU EMI educates pre-service and in-service EMI coordinators and instructors on innovative EMI conceptualizations, building a glocalized understanding of pedagogical practices that foster students' functional competence—enabling them to manage domain-specific communicative tasks skillfully.
Program Overview
- Duration: June 23 – July 4, 2025 (On-Site), August 12 – August 23, 2025 (Online)
- Format: Synchronous online modules, asynchronous discussions, in-person coaching, and fieldwork
- Capstone Project: Application of learning through a final project integrating program content into teaching
- Fieldwork: Onsite engagement with NTNU RCEMI, including classroom observations, discussions, and academic roundtables on capstone projects
- Action Research Framework: Participants act as researchers in their classrooms, identifying challenges and implementing informed improvements based on data and reflection
Additional Post-Training Responsibilities Upon completion of the TC-NTNU EMI program, participants are expected to:
- Engage in a four-month follow-up for continued curriculum development support.
- Serve as EMI consultant instructors (listed in NTNU's EMI expert database).
- Lead EMI workshops and act as demonstration instructors for open classroom observations.
- Present research findings at a program completion seminar.
- Join an NTNU-led cross-institutional EMI professional learning community within a year.
- For NTNU faculty: Collaborate with the Office of Academic Affairs’ Foreign Language Division or the Center for Academic Literacy to develop English for Academic and Specific Purposes (EASP) courses and co-teach upon completion.

We are looking for motivated instructors who meet the following criteria:
1. Relevance: Current pre-service or in-service EMI instructors at the university level.
2. Motivation: Strong motivation to participate in professional development in EMI.
3. Recommendation: Applicants must be recommended by their department, college, or school.
4. Commitment: Ability to complete the entire program and apply the learning into EMI teaching, including participation in classroom observations, fieldwork, and action research.
5. English Proficiency: Ability to read academic materials and write reasonably well in English.
Application Process
- Review Eligibility: Confirm you meet the criteria for relevance, motivation, recommendation, commitment, and English proficiency.
- Prepare Application: Submit a personal statement (in a three-minute video), a recommendation letter, English proficiency evidence, and be prepared for an online interview.
- Submit Application: Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Send all materials to rcemi@deps.ntnu.edu.tw as soon as possible before the deadline of December 27, 2024. Note that submissions may close earlier if capacity is reached.
- Online Interview:
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in an online interview as part of the final selection process.
- The interview will focus on your EMI teaching practices, your understanding of the program’s objectives, and how you plan to apply the learning outcomes to your teaching.
- Review and Notification: Applications will be evaluated based on relevance, motivation, recommendation strength, commitment, and English proficiency. Notifications will be sent via email.

- 是否有學校推薦名額限制? 各學校無推薦名額限制,學校可以推薦多位教師參與。各校補助名額上限請洽詢該校雙語主責單位。
- 是否有限制學科教師或英文教師的申請資格? 本課程沒有學科或科目限制,大專院校 EMI 教師皆可申請。
- 是否開放給外校教師? 是的,本課程對全臺大專院校的 EMI 教師開放,並不限於國立臺灣師範大學的教師。
- 參與人數是否有限制? 課程名額最多為 30 人。
- 如果我沒有正式的英文能力測驗成績怎麼辦? 若您過去並未參加過英文能力檢定,這並不影響您的申請。您可以在申請材料中簡要說明自身的英語能力,例如是否能夠閱讀學術期刊、在課堂上進行英語授課等,這些說明將作為英語能力的參考依據。
- 資深教師或即將退休的教師可以申請嗎? 任何年齡的教師皆可申請。評選重點在於申請者的 EMI 教學經驗、對教學的投入以及在 EMI 推廣中的貢獻潛力,年齡不會成為評分依據。
課程錄取與公告
- 何時會截止並公布錄取結果? 2024年12月27前皆可遞交申請,我們採用隨到隨審,額滿為止,建議儘早遞交申請。
- 學校會收到教師錄取通知嗎? 錄取通知將直接發送至錄取教師,請獲推薦的教師自行通知各校雙語推動單位並申請相關補助。出發前,將提供正式公文給已完成簽證申請的錄取教師,以便辦理差假申請。
課程設計與要求
- 課程時間?
- 實體課程: 6月23日到7月4日,周一至周五上午9點到12點,下午1點到4點。(周末時間由老師自行安排)
- 線上課程: 8月12日到8月23日,每天早上8點到10點(台灣時間)
- 培訓期間週末是否需上課? 不需要。培訓僅於平日進行,週末則為個人安排時間。
- 赴美參加培訓需要哪種類型的簽證? 簽證類型將依美國和 TC 的規定而定,通常由 TC 出具邀請函協助辦理學術簽證(如 J1 簽證)。在正式錄取後,TC 會指引申請者申辦符合當地規定的簽證。
- 課程設計與要求? 本課程包含四個模組,由TC的教師,Dr. ZhaoHong Han團隊進行授課,課程內容涵蓋觀摩課堂和行動研究。參加者需在培訓期間完成一個Capstone Project,並於返國後應用於EMI課程。此專案將根據培訓內容逐步構建,指導教師深入探討EMI教學中的需求分析、教學方法、課程設計及學習者參與等議題,並可作為未來教學研究的基礎。
課程費用
- 申請課程是否需繳納註冊費/學費? 學費由臺師大EMI教學資源中心全額補助,參與者須自行負擔其他費用如機票、餐食、住宿費等。建議聯繫各校的雙語推動辦公室、雙語中心,或向參與雙語計畫的相關學院提出差旅日支費等相關申請。
- 有哪些管道可能可以申請機票與食宿費用之補助 ? 相關補助申請渠道可能因各校的雙語計畫主責單位而異。建議聯繫各校的雙語推動辦公室、雙語中心,或向參與雙語計畫的相關學院提出相關申請。費用標準依學校政策及地點而有所不同。建議與學校確認是否提供以下經費支持:

- 交通費:包括來回機票或其他交通工具費用。
- 日支費:涵蓋住宿和膳食的基本開支。以美國紐約為例,政府公務差旅日支數額為 510 美元,請參考中央政府各機關派赴國外各地區出差人員生活費日支數額表。
- 若您有私人住宿安排,如在當地有親友,建議先與學校確認是否允許自行安排住宿。
- 是否可以自行安排住宿節省費用? 依各校雙語推動單位經費核銷規定辦理,建議提前與學校核對相關要求。
證書
- 是否頒發哥倫比亞大學證書? 是的,完成課程後將獲頒美國哥倫比亞大學與國立臺灣師範大學聯合核發的完課證書。
- 完課後是否頒發結訓證書或認證? 完成所有課程要求的參與者將獲頒完課證書。若參與者完成課程超過三分之二但未達到所有要求,將頒發研習證書。
